Another glowing review on my favorite GTD software – TechHit’s Simplyfile.

Take Control of Your Outlook Inbox

Planning on writing a separate post on Simplyfile, soon…

Alladin’s – CategorieZ

CategorieZ – A sidebar to Microsoft® Outlook® providing greater control over your categories!

Description:
Category manager for Outlook.

GTD Pitch:
* Lets you quickly assign Category/Categories to mails/calanders/tasks/notes/contacts/journals.

* One click command to Filter Outlook items (mails, contacts, notes etc) based on a given category.

It lets you assign and glance at your emails that fall into different category buckets with a “single click”

Download size
~6MB

Features
1. Keeps a window(pane) open, so that you can easily click on a category and apply it to selected mail(s), as opposed to accomplishing the same with Outlook’s multiple step commands.

2. Lets you assign HotKeys to categories. When you hit the HotKey, category associated with HotKey gets assigned to the email.

3. Lets you group categories.

4. Synchronize categories with a master list.

5. Backup category list and Restore.

Pros:
- “Filter” button… which lets you look at different email buckets in one click.

Cons:
It lacks intelligence. Would be nice if it can recommend categories based on my previous category assignments on a given kind of email.
